Every year, millions of teens across North America head off to college for the first time, most of them moving to live in a school’s residence building. Out of those millions of kids, a good 90% of them will engage in sexual activity during their first few months on campus. And where is the easiest place to find those hookups? Right there on campus!
I just want to say, for the record, rez hookups are a terrible idea.
Rez life is a much smaller world than you’re used to. It’s not like high school anymore where if you want to avoid someone, you can. It’s easy to know someone’s schedule in high school and get to know their patterns of where they go. In rez, everyone has a different schedule every day. Not only will you not know when they’re coming or going, you have a hard time predicting when you’re going to be doing that yourself. Trying to dodge them after a one night stand? Probably not going to happen.
Not to mention that if you do pump them and dump them, you run the risk of running into them and the new person they’re dating in a few weeks. Sure your time together has come and gone, but what if you’re stuck with daters remorse? Now you have to see him and his new girl enter his room and leave your rez whenever they feel like it, and there’s not much you can do about it.
If you’re going to start your dating search early into your college career, you should start looking outside of your rez. If it’s the first few weeks of school the local pub will be filled with other singles looking for a steamy hookup to jump start their year. The only time you should be considering a rez hookup, is when you’re moving out.
